Blade Runner may be analogous to Elysium, Ghost in the Shell, Neuromancer, Cyberpunk 2020, Avatar, Cyberspace RPG, respectively Dredd, but there are still major conceptual differences between all of these. The worlds of Blade Runner, Mad Max or (to go truly lateral) Car Wars are fundamentally dissimilar. Wonder to see how far the (Sir) Ridley Scott's old man's dying wish of seeing the aliens universe and blade runner quantum entangled can survive studio interests. I demand to see major off world scenes in Blade Runner 3. Kill off the worst corporations, a few years things will get ugly but ten years later things are definitely improving. My guess is that corporations is what stop the world of Blade Runner getting fixed. Watch a few vids on Isaac Arthur's channel to see where the main questions arise, especially the one on Eucumenopolises. There are some minor inconsistencies here. Technology is so advances there are robust flying cars, large floating garbage barges are cheap enough to dump junk around for hundreds of kilometers, genes can be altered, corporations built several kilometer high buildings. Situation is so shitty people started lobbing around nukes, so there are lots of places with radio-active contamination.
People around the equator are dying in droves. All cities in the world have doubled in size.
On earth only people with bad genes or people with no money are left lingering, slowly dying. Corporations compete like crazy, extremely ruthless military units go around killing lots of people. Life sucks offworld, a lot like Hadley's Hope, but with pretty hookers. A lot of people that have good genes move offworld.
